A 19th century hexagonal covered box that was probably used as a cosmetic container. The top and body fit together to form one continuous line, thus the decoration is similar on both parts. It includes large green lotus-leaf medallions, a white frame, and pink, yellow, and blue flowers on a green background, all the horizontal bands on the box are green and they are separated by yellow rings. The knob is a red sculpted lion or dog of Chinese inspiration. |
