A mid-19th century pedestal water (“toh”) jar with red medallions, a pink and white frame, and Thepanoms alternating with white diamond-shaped lotus medallions and a delicate red twisting stem pattern on a luscious pale green background, a red band with a sugar-cane-eye pattern at the upper and lower body, a broad yellow band with red flowers and green leaves around the mouth rim and on the lower body; a solid green band on the upper foot; the pedestal foot is splayed with a red band and a pink and white exotic cotton leaf motif around the foot. The cover has sloping walls with an out-turned rim with a solid red band and another one with a white sugar-cane-eye motif; the body of the cover has blue medallions, a red and white frame with red flowers; the all-over motif and the background is the same as on the body; the top is three tiers (all yellow with red bands and a white floral pattern) and a gold vase-shaped knob. |
