An exquisite pedestal water (“toh”) jar that probably dates to the reign of Rama II (1909-1824). The body is decorated with red medallions,a pink and white frame, and thepanoms alternating with a white diamond-shaped open lotus motif, elegant pink and white floral swags, on a black background, red bands with a sugar-cane-eye motif around the upper and lower body, a broad yellow band with a red and green floral scroll at the lower body and mouth. The splayed, pedestal foot has a solid green band, a yellow ring, and a red band with a pink exotic cotton leaf pattern. The cover has sloping walls, an out-turned rim with a red band and the same decoration as on the body and foot; the body of the cover has green medallions, a pink and white frame, and red flowers on a black background, two bands (one yellow, one white) of narrowly formed lotus leaves, a two-tiered top (yellow with pink and white decoration) and a gold bud-shaped knob.
