This 19th century water (“toh”) jar is decorated with a delicate motif of red-brown and white medallions, a green frame, an open flower, filmy leaves float around the medallions on a pale yellow background, red bands with green, white, and pink flowers at the mouth and foot; an eroded gray band with green and pink seeds at the upper body and lower foot; a yellow band with flowers at the upper foot; a red ring at the base of the splayed, pedestal foot. The cover has sloping walls with a yellow band and pink and green seeds at the rim, two green rings enclosing a white and pink floral pattern; a red band with pink and green flowers at the base of the top; a three tiered top with yellow bands and a pointed red knob. |
