Bencharong (000040) [bj_103.2 Bowl, 103.2] The Jim Thompson Museum Collection

 

An 18th century bowl of exceptional quality with red medallions and a green and yellow frame with Thepanoms alternating with demons, and a pink, green, and white twisting stem motif on a black background; a red band with circles enclosed by yellow rings around the upper body, a broad green band with an abstract motif encircles the mouth, a red ring around the rim and a solid red band around the foot but it does not completely cover the foot as traces of white glaze are visible. The interior is green with a yellow ring and a red band with a white floral and dot motif around the upper body; a broad yellow band with a white leaf and red flower design around the mouth and a red ring on the rim.
