The Jim Thompson Museum Collection
Previous Home Next
A 19th century covered bowl with an out-turned rim (diam=???). The decoration on the bowl and the cover are the same. It includes: an all-over design of peonies alternating with lotus, leaves, grapes, and butterflies on a gold background. The motifs on these pieces were influenced by Chinese designs. There is a solid gold band and a solid green band around the foot and the top of the cover. The mouth of the bowl is banded in metal.
