A 20^th century red, black, green, and yellow lacquer cylindrical box for betel chewing ingredients (H=17 cm). The cover and the body are approximately the same size and fit together tightly. Medallions evenly spaced around the exterior of the box are filled with animals (real and mythical) of the Burmese zodiac. For a close-up view of one of the animal medallions, click here.
