A 20^th century red and black lacquer cylindrical box for betel chewing ingredients (H=21 cm). The cover and the body are approximately the same size and fit together tightly. The decoration consists of an all-over pattern on the exterior that is contained within red bands at the top and the bottom. The naturalistic motif is a stylized betel vine intricately painted against a background of undulating lines.
