Private collection Two 15th to 16th century glazed containers for lime, which are typical products of the kilns at Sawankhalok in central Thailand. (L) a tapering conical form made in two parts with a lotus-bud shaped knob at the top. It is decorated with horizontal bands of stylized geometric motifs in underglaze iron black (H=7 cm). (C) a similar form covered with a white glaze (H=9.5 cm). The form also has a bronze counterpart (R) (H=8 cm). |
