Thailand (Khmer) Lime Container Ceramic
A ca. 11th century high-fired, glazed container for lime (Diam=10 cm). The pot has a globular body with an opening at the mouth and applied beak, tail, and eyes in the form of a bird. It is covered with a straw-colored glaze and dark-veined crazing. This shape is typically found on the Khorat Plateau in northeast Thailand, a Khmer-dominated area between the 11th and 13th centuries.
