Private collection

A ca. 12th century high-fired, glazed container for lime (Diam=6 cm). The pot has a globular body with an opening at the mouth and an applied beak, tail, and eyes in the form of a bird. It is covered with a dark-brown glaze. This shape is typically found on the Khorat Plateau in northeast Thailand, a Khmer-dominated area between the 11th and 13th centuries.
