In the footsteps of Henri Mouhot A French explorer in 19th Century Thailand, Cambodia and Laos
This article was written for publication in SPAFA Journal (A publication of the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts) in Volume 8, Number 1, January-April 1998, pp 5-16. A few month before, I visited the tomb of Henri Mouhot on the banks of the Mekong River outside of Luang Prabang, Laos and was inspired to find out more about his travels in Southeast Asia.

Kendi in the Cultural context of Southeast Asia, A Commentary

The kendi form has long been an interest of mine as it is a universal form in several materials used throughout Southeast Asia since at least the beginning of this era. This article traces its history, development, and function in the region.
